Today has been a very emotional day for me. It's hard to be sad and happy all at once. Today was the greatest day for our country as Barack Obama is now our 44th President of the United States. I am just in awe to see everyone from all walks of life come together, celebrating and excited that change is coming. Martin Luther King had a dream, and today it became a reality. Today was the first day in a very long time that I actually felt proud to be an American. I am so happy that my girls took part in witnessing history today.
It is also a sad day for me as it is the 17th anniversary of my dad's passing in 1992. I find myself thinking of him more often the older I get. I sometimes can't get out of my head how I wish he got the chance to see my girls grow up.
I sometimes find myself daydreaming of him. I think of him coming over to visit and having coffee with us. I can hear him talking to Dave, my husband about the trucking industry. I think of Aleia sitting on his lap, Andria singing him a song, and Ashley telling him some corny joke since they both have that warped sense of humor trait. He was taken from us way too soon. He never had the chance to live his life to what HE wanted to do. He was 56 years old. I love you daddy.
